Property Tectonics was established as a Chartered Building Surveyors Practice in November 1987 by the late Professor Trevor Mole BSc (Hons) FRICS, to provide consultancy services in Property and Construction with a primary focus on existing built assets.
Trevor, the company’s founder and managing director for 34 years, was an eminent Chartered Surveyor serving as President of the RICS Building Surveyors Division from 1997 and President of the Association of European Experts in Building and Construction in 2000. He was also a leading academic with a long-term role as visiting Professor at Salford University’s School of the Built Environment. He built the Property Tectonics business from scratch to a 50-plus strong consultancy that has been at the forefront of digital technology for building management and energy conservation in the UK for over 30 years. His personality and values are indelibly stamped on the business, and our ethos - to delight customers, be commercially successful and be good citizens - was at his core and remains the focus of the business today.
He had an indefatigable spirit and a curiosity that he brought to his career as he progressed from a tradesman to a graduate degree at the University of Salford and into the surveying profession. Alongside his work, he returned to Salford to become a visiting professor in the university’s School of the Built Environment. During this time, he also founded Property Tectonics, a consultancy at the forefront of digital technology for building pathology and energy conservation in the UK.
He will be remembered with gratitude and fondness by many of today’s building surveyors who were his students and those he mentored early in their careers.
His work was acknowledged by his peers when he served as President of the former Building Surveyors Division in 1997. He was then elected President of the Association of European Experts in Building and Construction in 2000, a role he performed diligently and innovatively for eight years, promoting the Erasmus Programme and the EurBE recognition scheme for professionals in the sector.
Trevor brought intellect, energy and action to promoting and advancing the role of chartered building surveyors, their education and skill base. All those who came into contact with this polymath during his professional and academic life will sorely miss him.
Today, his daughter Esther, having worked for the company for over twenty years, now runs the business. Esther and the board of directors keep Trevor's ethos and principles on which the firm was founded at the heart of the company.
