Ben Wheeler
Regional Surveying Supervisor

Ben Wheeler, Regional Surveying Supervisor at Property Tectonics, exemplified the Property Tectonics ethos with his leadership on the Optimised Retrofit Programme (ORP) in West Wales, where he conducted in-depth retrofit assessments of 20 properties. Ben has proven himself to be a forward-thinking, results-oriented retrofit assessor with an unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability.

The properties were facing a range of complex challenges, including building defects, inadequate insulation, and poor ventilation, all of which contributed to high energy consumption and poor living conditions for residents. Ben’s understanding of building pathology allowed him to identify underlying issues and develop effective retrofit strategies. His ability to accurately diagnose energy performance issues and recommend targeted interventions has not only improved energy efficiency but has also significantly enhanced the quality of life for the residents of these homes.

Ben’s approach goes beyond technical expertise, he is invested in ensuring that every retrofit project he undertakes is executed with precision, taking into consideration the needs of residents, the priorities of housing associations, and the long-term sustainability of the building.

Ben ensured that all data was collected electronically via the Homelife mobile app and integrated into the housing association's Lifespan asset management system. This data-driven approach facilitated accurate retrofit designs and supported ongoing monitoring of energy performance post-retrofit.

From the initial assessments to the final implementation of measures, Ben’s work has made a profound impact on both the energy efficiency of the housing stock and the overall satisfaction of residents.
