What is a retrofit assessment?
A ‘Retrofit Assessment’ is an inspection of the inside and outside of your home in order to establish condition, energy performance and occupancy.
Why are we doing Retrofit Assessments?
These help the council or your housing association to assess each of these criteria so they can plan potential future improvements.
What will the surveyor do whilst at my property?
The surveyor will walk around the inside and outside of your property reporting on the condition of certain components i.e., roof void, doors, windows, walls, heating etc including identifying any dampness or mould. Room measurements will be undertaken. They will take photographs of all of these items. Our surveyors will not photograph any personal or non-survey related item. Our surveyors know they must respect personal property and would not normally move furniture, fittings, or carpets and if required to do so would request specific permission and ask the resident to be present.
Does the surveyor need access to every room?
We do ask that the surveyor is given access to every room in the property so they can provide a complete assessment of your home. Without this access, it will not be possible to complete the assessment.
How long will the assessment take?
Surveys can take around 90 minutes depending on the size of the property.
How many surveyors will attend the appointment?
Only one surveyor will be attending. The surveyor’s name can be found on the first page of your appointment letter.
Do I have to be present for the appointment?
Anyone can be present in the property when the surveyor attends as long as they over the age of 18. We do not require the resident named on the tenancy agreement to be present.
Where does the information go once the surveyor has collected it?
Once the survey is complete, the assessment report is delivered to the council or housing association for review and a decision taken on any improvement works to be undertaken.
